Indus International School, Bangalore celebrated its first virtual Evening of Performing Arts on 17th October 2020 expressing various forms which was successful in unifying an audience set far apart owing to the pandemic situation gripping the world.

The Chief Guest of the occasion was the CEO and Managing Director of the Indus Trust, Lieutenant General Arjun Ray (Retd.). The dignitaries who graced the evening were Mrs. Sarojini Rao, the Principal of the Indus International School- Bangalore, Mrs. Pritam Benjamin, a renowned educationist and the founder Principal of Indus International School, Mr. Sandeep Chhabra, Principal- Indus Pune, the Principal of Indus Hyderabad - Mrs. Nuwaira Pasha, the Principal of the Belgaum school Dr. Praseedha Sreekumar and our chief philosophy officer Ms. Preethi Prabhu.

The evening included performances like:

IISB Students performed the Bharatanatyam, thereby invoking the Almighty to shower his Blessings upon us and our intentions during the times of the pandemic.

Azriela Maben, of Grade 12 played the Sonata Opus 79 Movement 1, originally composed by the legendary Ludwig Van Beethoven, leaving the audience enthralled.

The students enacted the modern rendition of English play, Fritz Karinthy’s “Refund” a satire on the present-day educational system.

The evening’s event continued with a Carnatic Devotional Song, Krishana nee be-gah-ne barro, invoking Lord Krishna for his divine intervention in these uncertain times.

The Indus Orchestra recreated a repertoire of some of the finest compositions ranging from Maurice Ravel’s Balero, the theme from Mission Impossible, Elegie Opus. 3 Pieces of fantasies by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The songs presented by the Indus choir were- Scars to Your Beautiful by Allessia Cara, was performed with acapella vocals instead of background instrumentals.

Indus’ very first magician, Gabriel David, with his magical tricks, mystified and entertained the audience.

The students performed a unique contemporary dance to the songs Rise Up by Andra Day and Fight Song by Rachel Platten, using it to express their emotions regarding the changing world around us and many more.
