About the City

Bangalore

Bangalore is located in The State of Karnataka, at an altitude of 3000 feet on the Deccan Plateau. A city with a cool climate and a cosmopolitan culture, Bangalore is one of Asia's fastest growing cities. Culturally diverse and historically rich, the city is known for an atmosphere of communal harmony. With clean, green surroundings and a healthy environment, Bangalore provides the perfect environment for a 21st century education.

The 'knowledge' industry drives Bangalore. This is evident from the large number of MNCs based here, as well as several scientific corporations and research institutes like Indian Institute of Science, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Indian Institute of Management. Bangalore boasts of state-of-art software facilities and the presence of a large number of overseas vendors. Asia's own Silicon Valley; it has the highest number of engineering colleges in the world, and has also been ranked the fourth best "global hub of technological innovation" by the United Nations.

Building on these strong foundations, Bangalore is also India's BioTech City. To further these efforts, the government is also promoting the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology at Bangalore.

Lush and green, Bangalore's climate is pleasant almost all year around, and is well connected by air and surface links.
