Taking success to a new height

mount-likimanjaro-trek

At 10 am on 24th January, 2019, four girls from Indus International School, Bangalore summited the highest peak of Africa and one of the seven summits of the world, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters).

It was a 10 day expedition organized by the school's “Peak to Lead” Team, from January 18, 2019. A group of 11 students, with six girls and 5 boys that perceived through a treacherous night-long trek.

From humid rainforests to rainy grasslands to windy alpine desserts and finally the snow-capped peak, the Indus Eagles encountered various situations like climatic fluctuations, sub-zero temperatures and altitude sickness that pushed them to think quickly on their feet.

The last leg of the trek, the steep climb to the summit which happens at midnight, not only tested the students’ physical strength but their mental endurance as well. After a long walk through the night and witnessing probably the most beautiful sunrise above the clouds, 4 Indus girls emerged on top.

The group was led by their able leader, Mr. Mitesh Singh (Trainer, Indus School of Leadership), who was also accompanied by Captain Bijoy Bose and Ms. Harshali Varthak.
